「掛軸」

掛軸は書画を永く保存し、回りを裂地や和紙で美しく着飾り、床の間を彩ります。

主役の書画を引き立てる脇役の表装は決して出しゃばらず、かといって寡黙すぎてもいけません。表具には書画と一体となる絶妙なバランスが必要です。

Hanging Scroll (Kakejiku)

A hanging scroll preserves works of calligraphy for eternity. The border area is adorned with fine Japanese textiles and paper. When hung in a Japanese alcove, it creates the focal point for the room.
The mounting only plays a supporting role to enhance the beauty of the main work of calligraphy and should never dominate it. However, the mounting should not be too subdued, which would result in a loss of impact.
Great care must be taken to ensure that an aesthetic balance is maintained between the two and allow the beauty of the main artwork to be enhanced.
